AN EASY HOLIDAY CRAFT

We recently took the kids to a holiday brunch at the Winsor House in Duxbury and were blown away by the festive decorations. Each room had a theme with gorgeous yet simple holiday decorations dangling from the ceiling. We all were drawn to the beauty and simplicity of the origami red cranes.

This got us thinking. My parents recently traveled to Japan and gave us origami paper so this was our sign to get creasing! We sat around the table and used these video instructions from the Japanese American National Museum to recreate our own paper cranes in our home. We ended up hot-gluing thin red ribbon to each crane and hung them from our chandelier. It was such a fun activity that we could all do together and we love looking at the cranes “flying” in our dining room. I’m looking foward to continuing this craft and holiday decoration tradition each year.
