WHY THE MILK STREET WOK IS MY FAVORITE WOK
After extensive research and interviewing for a wok article for US News & 360 Reviews, I came across the Milk Street 3-piece 13-inch wok. I was immediately enamored with the wok. It is constructed of hammered carbon steel with a matte finish and features a long riveted stainless steel handle and helper handle. This particular set comes with a steaming rack that sits inside the wok (perfect for steaming dumplings), and a hearty glass lid with a steam vent; a thoughtful touch when you’re cooking at high heat. The wok is flat-bottomed, which means you can use this wok on gas or electric cooktops, and the carbon steel heats efficiently and quickly. While the wok is heavy, the two sized handles help keep my hands safe while maneuvering. I frequently season the wok and I have not encountered any issues when it comes to cleaning.
I’ve used the wok for a variety of dishes and cooking methods, including steaming and frying dumplings, deep-frying French fries, and making homemade popcorn (that’s where the clear lid comes in handy). If you’re in the market for a new wok, Milk Street frequently runs promotions on this set, so it’s worth checking back periodically.
